About Me

I am a Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer (SSWE2) in the Boston area working with HubSpot since 2019. Over the years, I've worked across teams in Data Infrastructure touching a wide variety of datastores. I've developed a passion for empowering engineers to leverage databases effectively without needing expertise in every technology available to them. I've also built database tooling, automated workflows, built reliable orchestration, consulted on performance problems, expanded system monitoring, performed challenging migrations, and triaged dozens of high severity incidents.

Beyond the specific technology, I am a knowledge spelunker, known to be the person on the team who always finds the answer in the docs. I love to learn and frequently dive deep into a topic to understand as much as I can. This benefits my team as I take the time to mentor those around me with what I learn.

I have to say I'm very happy I was able to handle the crit sit on my own. I honestly wouldn't have felt confident enough if it hadn't been for just the zk chat we had last week, where I even incidentally learned that we have some cluster sharding and it's enabled for silver. I was very ready to page the secondary if I needed to lol but it didn't end up happening.

— a teammate on the positive impact of my mentorship

In the new AI centric workplace, I've been building skills using coding agents to enhance development. I've built MCP tools and created specialized agents for workflows my coworkers use. I've developed a knack for iterating with agents to craft quality code. Most importantly, my experience before LLMs enables me to recognize when the model strays from the correct course and guide it back on the right path.

Outside of work, I gather with friends to play board games, card games, and role playing games. I enjoy getting outside, exploring the city, hiking New England and abroad, kayaking, and riding my motorcycle. Every so often I seek out adrenaline: roller coasters, bungee jumping, canyon swings, cliff jumps, skydiving, etc. At home I love to relax with mystery stories, history podcasts, and a variety of other media. The world beckons me and so far I have been to 16 different countries on 3 continents. This degree of work life balance keeps life fresh and makes both fulfilling.
